Raku Pots
Various pots and vases pots fired either in a raku kiln and removed when 800 degrees and smothered in sawdust; or pit fired wrapped in newspaper and foil containing various compounds to impart colour and patterns on the surface.
Boxes and Buildings
Handmade from stoneware clay, bisque fired, then glazed. Boxes and buildings are great illusions of the slab building technique. Prepared clay is rolled out between two sticks like pastry, smoothed and allowed to stiffen but not dry. Slabs can then be cut using templates and stuck together to form the desired object. With slab building precision, careful joining and finishing are key to obtaining a satisfactory result, however large forms can be constructed relatively quickly.
