Raku Days
In summer 2022 we hosted two Raku sessions for students lasting two days each.
Students made pots with Raku clay in the weeks leading up to their session and these were bisque fired.
During the Raku sessions the first task was for the students to chose their glazes and split their work evenly between firings so it was fair for all. We managed 4-6 firings a day.
In the lead up to the first session we built our own Raku kiln and purchased some kiln bricks and a burner. We tested out the kiln and glazes before the first session so the students could see what the glazes would turn out like.
During each session fun was had by all and the students were involved as much was safely possible.
